Hello All,
I would like to touch upon a few points about the guild and what we're all about.
The fact that you're reading this, and are a member of the guild, should say that you're aware of our philosophy and how we like to do things. Nevertheless, I'll reiterate what we expect in more detail:
Maturity: A mature attitude is essential. Many of the members of this guild are in their mid to late 20's; have played WoW and many other online games for years; as well having a lot of life experience. That's not to say age matters -- it does not; everyone will be treated on their own merits, but be aware of the kind of atmosphere we want to uphold. Be polite and courteous. If someone needs a hand with something, help them out; the guild functions best when everyone is on board with each other's success.
Our Aim: We are a progression orientated guild, looking to advance through the game's raiding content, whilst raiding on a relatively relaxed schedule. Previously, we raided just 7.5 hours a week, and cleared all tiers, on the hardest difficulty, whilst it was current. I believe there are very few guilds in the world that can claim this. We aim to hit such heights again, but do bear in mind we will not compromise on our ideals, and sticking to our schedule is one of those things. Do not expect rank 1, and do not expect instant Mythic success.
Raiding Attitude: We believe in having a tight-knit community who respects one-another and works together to achieve a common goal. Any kind of disrespect will not be tolerated. I don't care if you're a top performer, if you start to cause unrest you will be removed very quickly. Having said this, in order to progress there will be times when questions are asked. If you do get asked to clarify what happened during an attempt, it is not a personal attack; it is simply us trying to get to the bottom of any issues that may be happening during an encounter. Stay calm and focused throughout -- attempts made whilst angry are simply not productive.
Voice Communication: During raids Teamspeak should be kept clean with only the relevant people speaking at the appropriate times. A little bit of conversation during the trash is fine, provided it doesn't distract from clearing -- our raid times are short and we need to keep up a fast pace at all times. During attempts only speak when there is an important mechanic or ability to make the team aware of. We do not want to hear why you died during an attempt. The attempt will be discussed after the wipe is called, if necessary.
Attendance: We expect everyone to sign up for the raids on the calendar. Any person who will be away or unavailable for any period of time must notify us in the AFK forum thread. Real life obligations are to be expected, and are fine provided we are aware of the situation. If any raider decides not to show on a regular basis without any prior communication, they will be replaced.
Timekeeping: Aim to be online 15 minutes before raid start. This allows us to be ready in the instance for the start time. (Of course, whilst we're still pugging raid slots there will inevitability be some waiting around.) Again, people can be delayed due to unforeseen circumstances; it is tolerated to a degree, but if you are late we may well replace you with someone else that night. You are also expected to stay until the end, unless you have an emergency situation to take care of. Continually poor timekeeping will likely result in permanent replacement.
Extensions: On occasion, we may extend the raid by 30 minutes. This is a judgement call at the time; for example, if we are very close to a kill it's usually worth having another attempt if the odds are good that we will kill it. We hope people are on board with this from time to time, but usually we will keep to our allotted time.
Loot: We will operate a loot council system to ensure that gear is distributed in the best possible way. There will be multiple factors in such decision making (and I will make a post when it comes to it), but rest assured that the decision making will be fair and be subject to no favoritism. Loot is a tool, and ensuring it is distributed in an effective way brings about the maximum gain in terms of the overall group. This directly impacts progression, and once everything is on farm, people will naturally obtain the remainder of their items, regardless. Until this point, we are operating a Master Looter with rolls, but do think about what you roll on and pass items that are only a minor upgrade. I probably needn't mention that any kind of loot drama will not be tolerated.
Performance: Clearly, to achieve our goals we expect good performance from everyone. This means playing your character and role to its maximum. Regular research and action on rotations, gearing, optimization, and individual strategy are essential to maintaining a high level of play. Should a player's level of play drop below the required standard, questions will be asked.
Questions and Queries: Should you have any questions, queries or issues feel free to approach myself or any of the officer team. Please do not do this during raid time, as we require full focus there and cannot be responding to whispers, etc. Outside of this, everyone should feel like they can have their say and that their opinion will be heard. We will always try and be as democratic and diplomatic as possible regarding any concern, and every raider is considered an equal.
I hope all the above is clear.
Do bear in mind that we are still very much in our infancy. We are building a team, and things won't always be smooth sailing, or up to the desired standard. Being part of something special in the longer term takes time, dedication and patience, and I am sure you all understand this. Furthermore, there will be times where we will wipe for days, weeks or even months on certain bosses -- I trust you will all take this in your stride and understand that those are the moments where being a real raider really counts.
Thanks for reading.
